Visitors to the Powell-Cotton Museum are right to be wowed by the magnificent dioramas. They are truly extraordinary. Even more remarkable is to find them in a small Kentish seaside town!
The large habitat dioramas show animals in their natural habitats by recreating landscape – distant views, trees, rocky hillsides even desert. The mounts are placed carefully within this so that everything looks very real.
However, in Gallery 2 there is a group of animals mounts – 13 in all – standing on the bare bottom of a case with no background. What is this all about?
