More than one hundred and twenty years ago twenty-three year old Percy Cotton set off with notebook and camera on an exciting trip around the world.
This was no organised ‘package trip’ but an inspiring and often hazardous journey to places and cultures very new to him.
Fortunately, we are able to re-live his experiences through detailed diaries, stunning photographs and an amazing collection of objects.
We are also able to understand more about Percy Cotton - what encouraged him to appreciate diversity, create a museum to inform and entertain and, especially, to inspire future generations to continue his work.
Month by month the display of World Trip objects will be renewed from our latest ‘finds’. So come back and follow us as we prepare this fascinating resource for wider public access – at the Museum in Gallery Eight.
