Meet our Learning Team:
Rebecca Gazey, Head of Learning
Rebecca has worked in Museum Education since 2009. She has a Masters in Museum Studies where she focused on provisions for under 5s in specialist museums. Prior to her role at Powell-Cotton she worked for the Royal Air Force Museum and the Royal Engineers Museum, Library and Archive.
Rebecca really enjoys being able to bring collections to life for all ages and abilities. She is passionate about ensuring learning in the cultural sector is for all and is really passionate about working in partnership with the local community groups.
As Learning Officer, Rebecca will manage all learning based visits to the museum, as well as holiday activities for families and any special projects.
Manny Mvula, Outreach Officer
Born and raised in Zambia, Manny is an experienced conservationist with first-hand experience working in wildlife conservation and tourism in Africa. With a Masters in Conservation & Tourism Management, Manny worked as a field ecologist, safari guide & lecturer in conservation & wildlife Management prior to joining the Powell-Cotton Museum. He is co-founder of an African charity the High Five Club and is part of the Primate Advisory Group for GRI - Zambia Primate Project, which has on-going support from the Born Free Foundation.
As Conservation and Outreach Officer, Manny will be the driving force in delivering our outreach programmes with the view to forge partnerships through community engagement. Manny will also develop our conservation & scientific research platform to showcase the museum’s wealth of zoological & ethnographical resources through partnerships with academic/research institutions, special interest groups, conservation organisations & community groups.
