Welcome to Quex Park

Quex Park farms 1500 acres in house plus a further 1500 acres under contract agreements with other local farmers.

Our farming team consists of our Farm Manager, Alistair Walmesley-Cotham and just three farm workers.  The main enterprises are potatoes, wheat, oilseed rape and grain maize as well as a single suckling beef herd.

Wheat

The largest area in terms of crop is wheat. The predominant varieties grown are for bread wheat. This is sown in the autumn and harvested in August.

Oilseed Rape

Oilseed rape is grown for it's vegetable oils.  The cold pressed varieties are high in oleic acids and are better for us than olive oils.  This crop is sown in August and harvested in July.

Maize

With the apparent effects of global warming this crop is becoming easier to grow. Hundreds of thousands of tonnes are imported and this production helps to replace this. The market is for livestock and pet food.

Potatoes

In conjunction with St.Nicholas Court Farms and Kent Veg, Quex Park Estates are proud to be part of the Tesco local food initiative.  These potatoes are grown in Kent, packed in Kent and sold in Kent.  This makes these a totally local concept unlike other areas where often the produce is packed on a distant site before being returned locally. Our potatoes are also sold direct to the public through the Quex Barn farmshop.

Cattle
All the cattle are of a local indigenous breed.  They are reared naturally in spacious surroundings.

As all the meat is sold through the Quex Barn and other local outlets, animal transport is kept to an absolute minimum ensuring that animal welfare standards are of the highest order.  These husbandry methods give the meat a superior flavour and texture.

School and Farmers' groups are always welcome to look around the Estate and Farm.  Please contact us to arrange a visit.
