2011 Event
"The Sound Island Festival is to take this year out, returning to the picturesque Quex Park in 2012 and scheduled for the last weekend in July.
The organisers said, “We were ready to go to contract with a very high profile line up for the pop day on the Sunday but we were not comfortable with the quality of the artistes generally available for the Indie / Heritage day schedule for the Saturday. We felt that, although they are well known artistes in their own genre, they fell short of the standards that the audience at the Sound Island Festival have been used to for the past few years at Quex Park.
Several top names on our wish list are not touring in the UK this summer but will be available for 2012. So rather, than settle for second best and compromise the good reputation of the event, we have decided that the Sound Island Festival will follow suit and take this year out.
Unfortunately, this happens every now and again, several artistes’ other commitments such as studio time and international tours, not to mention personal plans all coincide making it difficult to programme a well-balanced festival.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.
